Obsidian I²’s Artificial Intelligence department brings together theoretical, experimental and applied work on intelligent systems. It develops research methods, prototypes and application-oriented solutions, connecting AI and data science with operational needs.
Research and technical scope
- Machine learning, data mining, computer vision and natural language processing.
- Cognitive architectures, distributed multi-agent systems and intelligent automation.
- Robotics, computational healthcare, human computing and computational social science.
- Data modelling, knowledge extraction, automatic document classification and explainable decision support.
Application areas
The department’s application interests include healthcare, precision agriculture, video analysis and surveillance, marketing, autonomous driving and finance. Work is framed around the quality and suitability of the available data, the intended users and the conditions in which a system will operate.
How we work
Activities combine research, AI and machine-learning prototyping, algorithmic workflows and integration into digital and physical systems. Data quality, privacy, validation, explainability and human oversight guide the development and assessment of useful AI capabilities. The department works with other research units and partners to connect technical experimentation with responsible, measurable applications.
