AgriTwin launched – Open-source AI decision support and an Environmental Digital Twin for agriculture
AgriTwin has officially started, bringing together technology development and on-farm validation to deliver an open-source Agricultural Digital Solution (ADS). The project develops an AI-enabled Decision Support System (DSS) and an Environmental Digital Twin to support data-driven farm management, with a focus on practical deployment in real operational conditions.
AgriTwin is designed to integrate on-farm sensing with external data sources, including Copernicus datasets and OpenAgri reusable services. This approach aims to improve situational awareness and decision-making on the farm, particularly for irrigation management, pest and disease risk awareness, and fertilisation support, while maintaining a strong emphasis on interoperability and replicability.
What AgriTwin will deliver
- An open-source ADS combining a DSS and an Environmental Digital Twin.
- Integration with OpenAgri open-source services and Copernicus data.
- A robust operational approach that considers rural connectivity constraints.
- A pilot deployment and evaluation on a farm environment, with user feedback shaping iterative improvements.
Pilot and stakeholder engagement
AgriTwin is validated in collaboration with the pilot end-user, with continuous engagement to ensure the solution addresses concrete day-to-day needs and is usable in practice.
